Renn and Ruth progress in mounting from the fence, arena and pasture riding!

After climbing all over the fence and Renn, Ruth puts her leg across his back.  He was very still and easy to mount bareback.  Renn is wearing his bitless Buckaroo sidepull, used exclusively at Spirit Horse Ranch.  Beautiful work, Ruth and Renn!

Ruth rides the rail bitless with beautiful balance.
Free in the pasture for the first time, Ruth and Renn are both smiling.

After Ruth's lesson, Renn and Ruella had a lovely ride on this shining November afternoon.

Ruella Yates and Renaissance Painter begin Ruth Ewing's Bitless Riding Class

Ruth and Renn: relaxing
Ruella Yates began Bitless Riding Instruction with Ruth Ewing, 13, and Renaissance Painter (Renn).  Ruth is learning Liberty Foundations with the Spirit Horse Ranch herd.  Renn is Liberty Trained and ready for this advanced instruction.  In the first photos, Ruth learns to relax her horse before proceeding with her Bitless instruction.  The first lesson involved teaching Renn to stand still at the fence at liberty, as Ruth climbed on the fence in different positions.  ( We called it 'monkeying around on the fence.)  It was a beautiful lesson, after which Ruth gave Renn his favorite treat, an alfalfa cube!
